Webflow or a managed mortgage website: the difference is the labour, not the output
Webflow is the closest thing on this list to what we do technically, and a good Webflow developer can build a mortgage site that matches ours on speed and structure. The difference is not the tool, it is the arrangement. With Webflow you are buying a platform and then hiring the designer, the copywriter, the person who knows what a program page needs to say, and the person who makes the change when compliance asks. With us you are buying all of those on one monthly fee, from people who only build mortgage sites.
The short answer
Right when you want a specific designer or something genuinely bespoke; a managed plan is right when you want the same outcome without managing three suppliers.
- Plans$137 a month
- Build fee$797, after launch
- Live in7 days
- Speed floor90+ PageSpeed
What Webflow is, described fairly
Webflow is a professional visual development platform. It produces clean, standards-based output, has a proper content management layer, and gives a designer real control over layout and interaction without hand-writing every line. It is the tool a lot of good agencies use, and if someone offers to build you a mortgage site in Webflow, that is not a red flag. It is a reasonable choice made by someone who cares about craft.
Side by side, on the things a mortgage site is judged on
11 rows. Where we do not know something about the other option, we describe the category rather than inventing a detail.
| What is being compared | Webflow | MortgageWebStudio |
|---|---|---|
| Technical ceiling | High. Clean output, a real content layer, proper control. | High. Static, hand-coded pages with almost no JavaScript and a guaranteed speed floor. |
| Who designs it | Whoever you hire. The result is only as good as that person. | A studio that has built this site type repeatedly and knows what a program page has to answer. |
| Niche knowledge | Depends entirely on the individual or agency. | Mortgage only: identifiers, licensed states, program vocabulary, estimator disclosure, advertising review. |
| Who writes the copy | Usually you, or a copywriter billed separately. | Us, to a compliance floor, reviewed by your compliance team before launch. |
| Ongoing changes | A retainer, an hourly rate, or you learning the tool. | Revisions a month included on every plan, no size limit, within a stated turnaround. |
| Articles | Not included by default. | Researched, cited articles every week, included. |
| Structured data | Possible and usually good, if the builder set it up and keeps it matching. | Generated from the visible content so it cannot drift. |
| Hosting and security | Platform hosting, on the plan you choose. | Edge hosting, certificate, firewall, backups and monitoring inside the fee, nothing itemized. |
| Compliance blocks | Can be a reusable component. Whether it stays correct depends on who edits it. | One definition, rendered identically, changed once. |
| Cost model | Platform subscription, plus build cost, plus a retainer for changes. | One monthly fee plus a one-time build fee invoiced after launch. |
| What happens if your developer disappears | You own the project and need someone new who knows the tool. | The studio is the supplier, not one person, and the plan continues. |
When Webflow is the right answer
Hire it when you want a specific designer, or when the site needs something a productised plan will not do.
- You have a designer or agency you trust and want to keep working with them.
- The site needs a genuinely custom interaction or a content structure outside a normal mortgage site.
- Your brand work is already substantial and you want it executed exactly, by the people who made it.
- You have marketing staff who will run the content layer themselves.
- You would rather own the project file and manage suppliers yourself.
When productised beats bespoke
Choose us when you want the same outcome without managing three suppliers to get it.
- You do not want to brief a designer on what a loan program page has to say.
- You want the copy, the articles and the search work included rather than quoted separately.
- You want a compliance change made this week without an hourly estimate.
- You want one monthly figure that covers hosting, domain, revisions and content.
- You want the person building it to already know what an identifier block is and where it goes.
What clients say about the work
“If you only look at the design you miss the best bit, which is the inquiry form. It collects purchase or refinance goal, property state and callback time up front, so the back-and-forth we used to do by reply has largely gone. It has quietly removed the slowest step in our intake.”
What they got: Inquiry form and response workflow for home loan consultations
“Before this, sending our home loan consultations form felt like posting a letter into the dark. Submitters now see exactly what we will do with their request and when to expect us. It is a small corner of the site that makes the whole process feel finished.”
What they got: Submission acknowledgment and follow-up for home loan consultations
“I appreciated being asked to separate new home loan consultations requests from ongoing conversations. New inquiries get the full form; follow-ups take a shorter route with the question itself. The morning triage is minutes rather than an hour.”
What they got: Inquiry categories and guided navigation for home loan consultations
If you already have a Webflow site you like
Then the honest question is only whether the weekly work is happening. If your developer is responsive, the pages are fast, the program pages exist and somebody is writing articles, stay where you are. If the site was beautiful at launch and has not been touched since, the problem is not the platform and moving to another platform on the same arrangement will not fix it.
Moving from a bespoke build
Bespoke sites usually have good URLs and good design. Both are worth carrying over.
We take a full URL, title and description inventory, and note which pages already earn traffic.
Design decisions worth keeping are carried into the build rather than restarted.
Program pages are expanded where the original was a single services page.
Every old URL gets one permanent redirect.
We tell your existing developer what we are taking and when, so nothing is switched off by surprise.
Questions about Webflow
Is your output actually faster than a good Webflow build?
Not necessarily, and we will not claim it is. A careful Webflow build can be very fast. The difference we can commit to is that our floor is written into your terms and re-measured after every weekly update, so the site is still fast in month fourteen after a year of additions. That is the part that usually slips, on any platform.
We have a designer we like. Can you build their design?
We build our own designs, informed by your brand. If executing a specific designer's file is the requirement, hiring a Webflow developer is the right answer and we would say so. What we will do is carry your palette, type feel and photography into the build.
Can we keep our content management workflow?
You will not have one, and that is deliberate. Changes come to us as revisions and we make them inside the stated turnaround. If a marketing team publishing directly is important to you, a platform with a content layer is the better fit.
What if we want to leave later?
Your domain is in your name and your content is exported within 14 days of cancellation. You will not receive a project file, because the site is hand-coded rather than built in a visual tool, but everything you would need to rebuild elsewhere comes with you.
Who owns the copyright in the copy?
You own your content. The words we write about your business, your programs and your team are yours, and they come with you if you leave.
Do you do the search work too, or is that separate?
Included. Technical structure, one target phrase per page, titles and descriptions, structured data, sitemaps, the plain-text site index for AI assistants, and the weekly articles are all part of the plan rather than a separate line.
How do you handle the compliance review that agencies usually skip?
We hold launch for it. Your compliance team gets a review link, the disclosure block is placed exactly where they specify, and after launch a wording change is an ordinary revision rather than a change request with an estimate attached.
Is a productised plan just an agency with a smaller menu?
It is an agency that has decided what it builds, which is what makes a fixed monthly fee and a stated turnaround possible. The trade is real: you get speed, predictability and niche knowledge, and you give up bespoke scope. If your project needs bespoke scope, say so on the call and we will tell you honestly whether we are the wrong supplier.
